I have a white bull terrier. His hair is short and coarse and dry. When I use his nickel plated pinch collar it gives him a dingy ring around the neck. This also happens when I use nylon collars but not as fast. He usually get a bath every ten days, any suggestions to keep him white longer after his bath?

Buy a couple of nylon ones and wash them regularly.

The stain is because his skin is secreting oils that get stuck under the collar and build up, as well as staining the collar and being rubbed back onto his fur after his bath.

In the case of the nickel collar he might also be allergic to that - I'm allergic to nickel and can't wear some watches.

Best thing you can do is probably keep the collar off of him when he's in the house.

1. You are only suposed to bathe a dog every 6-8 weeks.
2. The neck will look like that no matter what you do but using a clothe collar may help longer.

You are not leaving the choke collar on him are you?????????
They are meant to be on the dog only while training.

You can look online and you can find metal collars that are made from different metals. The nickel plated ones are the cheapest and the plate always comes off.

They make white cotton snap on chokers that are great. I am not sure where to get them. I have several in many sizes and have had them for years. They last a LONG time.

There really isn't anything you can do. White is a very hard color. Any collar you use is going to cause a ring around his neck.
