Mine was gone for 3 weeks - because I think someone just liked her, and kept her in their house ---- once she 'escaped', she came home --- looking groomed and well fed in her absence.

Usually cats are not gone that long even 5 days is odd for a cat to be gone unless someone took it in..also depends on the age of the cat if they are nearing death they will some times go else where to pass away as my parents cat had done.

Five and eleven days are longer than most cats will wander for. Usually, they come home daily to check up on things (sniff everything and see who's been around) and of course to eat. She may be caught in someone's garage or shed, or she might have a second home, where someone else is feeding her. That's what happened with one of my cats when I was young.
Does she have a collar (mine won't keep theirs on!) that gives her name and your address to show that she belongs to you? Or do you have the implant so a vet or animal control can track where she belongs?
If you live in a part of the country that is having such bad heat, go looking... just go around the neighborhood and call her and listen -- is she's stuck somewhere, she might be hard to hear (especially if she hasn't had much to eat or drink). I'd also recommend putting a flyer up around the neighborhood and faxing in to the vets and animal control officials in the area.
I hope you find her soon and that she is well... good luck!

Cats can roam for a long time. My aunt had a cat that was gone for a couple of years. He returned eventually. We were all shocked that he came back.

I don't know, but I hope something bad didn't happen to her, if not then I wouldn't worry about it to much because cats are smart and they know where they live. does she have a collar, microchip, etc? just to be on the safe side though, go out to look for her, you don't if she's hurt or not because you don't know where she is. she might be fine, but if I were you I'd be a little upset. if she's not hurt then she'll soon find her way back cause she knows who feeds her. oh and way to go for spaying her. you're just one of the very few responsible pet owners out there!! Good Luck! HIH!!

"she"s don't typically roam, only males are characteristic of roaming, she shouldn't especially if she is spayed....somebody either found her and took her home or she ran into unfortunate circumstances. there are so many things that can kill a cat, its just the way it is.

Have you checked with your neighbors? Cats sometimes find a "second home" and stay for a while. We had one once that went to a farm for the winter, and lived in the barn. Then he's come home in the spring.

You have reason to be worried, but cats tend to amaze me. They have an amazing sense of direction and will be able to find you no problem. I'd print a few flyers.

Is she familiar with your neighborhood? You may want to let your local pet shelter know that your cat is missing and if they get any calls then they will let you know. Put up missing flyers in your neighborhood to let people know you really miss her and wish for her safe return. Good luck!
