I'm a guy that sometimes goes to the mall with my guy friend and we might be walking towards a store and be passing a girl and her male friend sitting somewhere. The girl will give me this expressionless look as I'm approaching their direction, but then as I get near she'll turn away. This seems to happen every once in a while with girls in different places.
Why does this happen? Is there something about me or what I'm doing that bothers her? I did check her out, but I wasn't blatant about it.

In general when girls go to the mall they don't want to be "checked out" They've gone to shop. And you have no idea being a guy just how many creeps hang out at malls at annoy girls/ women when they're shopping. She maybe looking away because she is not interested, or perhaps she's shy. Or perhaps she is very self conscious of a blemish on her skin. Don't laugh girls magnify their imperfections and they sometimes think that's all the guy will see when he gets closer. The best advise I can offer you is if she seems approachable be polite say excuse me do you shop here often? Can you tell me where such and such a store is> Or can you recommend a good place to get a bite to eat? It's not likely you meet someone at a mall wherein it will turn into a serious relationship! Girls have been warned for years with good reason to avoid strangers at malls. There are statistically alot of creeps who hang out at malls looking for victims both girl& boy victims! It's a fact of life.

Well the reason I would do it is because I don't want the guy to think I'm interested in him, because it seems if your a female and look at a guy they take it as an act of interest and not that the girl happen to look there way.
I have avoided a lot of unwanted attention or verbal communications with guys I have no interest in. And even when I do look away, a lot of them still have something to say.
Or they could be shy, but thats one of the main reason girls look away.

Most likely, she's not interested in you and by turning away and breaking eye contact she's giving you that signal. This is true especially if she's with another guy (probably her boyfriend) and she wants to avoid a "c*ck fight".
The other possibility (if she's by herself) is that she is interested but very shy and doesn't want you to think she's "easy". If she's not with anyone and you want to get a better idea of why she looked away, just try asking.

It just meant that she didn't want to lead you on. Unfortunately for girls, men count eye contact as foreplay. She just didn't want you to walk over and flirt with her while she was trying to get her game on with some other dude. Don't take it personally, it wasn't as much a rejection as it was "not right now." She might not even have consciously realized she did it.

Lots of possibilities
A. She's lost in thought and doesn't even really "see you." Probably totally unaware.
B. She thinks your hot and she doesn't want the guy she's with to see her looking at you.
C. She thinks you are looking at her and she doesn't want to draw your attention.
I'd not recommend taking any of the suggestions I've provided too seriously. In your scenario she's with another guy so why invite trouble?
However, if she isn't with another guy - it's up to you if you want to try and strike up a conversation and maybe find out what she's thinking.

If a chick looks away it means "not now" ...Could be the dude is her BF and they have issues with checking someone else out in front of each other ....could be they respect each other. Could be she just isnt interested. Why are you checking her out if shes with another guy anyway? Either way ...if shes with a guy leave her alone. Besides you wouldnt want a slag that checks out other guys while you are with her to be your gf would you?

that just probably means that yea she was checking you out adn as you approached her and got closer she didnt like what she saw saw so she looked away to show you she wasnt interested. but ont the other hand some gurls dont have enough confidence to talk to a really cute guy that just goes up to them. so i wouldnt worry to much about that! i think it just depends on the gurl...y she looks away!

Generally speaking, people turn away when they don't want to be spoken to. It doesn't change through life, if you don't want a teacher calling on you...you look away, if a toddler is mad at you and doesn't want you to talk to them, they look away. If a girl is looking at you and then turns away - she's hoping to avoid giving you any kind of indication - she's hoping that you'll keep on walking. Sorry.

Ok....this is coming from someone who is married...but here goes: Often I see guys looking @ me, and if I look at them, then I don't care who they are or whatever, but when I turn away, it's because I know that they look nice or something, but I turn because I either get bashful, or because I don't want my husband or friends, or whoevers around me, to see that I was looking...haha...it sounds funny, but it's true!

She may be looking, just to be looking at whatever scenery is going on in the mall... then when she sees you looking at her & checking her out>>> she may be looking away out of concern that her guy-friend might see her checking you out.
