Ja, and after you've tried 6% beer you wonder why anyone wants the No. 1 American beer, which just makes you feel bloated and gives you a headache.

German red table wine is comparable to anything Napa Valley. I can't find either German products in America. Loenbrau, Becks is American made from a German recipes.

The Germans just don't make enough wine to export in large quantities. You can buy great wines for $2.50 a bottle from the farmers. That same wine will be $16 by the time it gets on an American shelf.

Now, if anyone can tell me why the French Mouton Cadet is cheaper in America than it is in Europe?

German beer is fantastic. I visited Munchen for Wiesn 2005 and had a blast. Not only was the beer fantastic, the food was also incredible, both especially so at the Adechts monastry.
Although I tried to sample as many as possible, Hofbrau, Lowenbrau, & Paulaner were all fantastische(!) highlights that I kept returning for. The Dunkelbeir is something I have never really gotten into before, but I now try and have one as often as possible. Well worth it. All this talk makes me want a die mass und schweinefleischknöchel.....

Ya, Ya, Ya!!! Paulaner Hef and dunkelweiss are fantastic beer that you can occasionally find over here. Our local place carried Spaten, and we try to get there as much as possible.

I haven't had too much German wine, but one of my favs right now is an inexpensive German Reisling and a few years back I bought a local eiswein while touring the Rhine River cities.

: )

OH man i went to a wine tasting thing on a cruise ship. I never thought Germans could make wine. But I tried this wine that was out of this world. I just wish I could remember the name of it. I was shocked that they could make wine that good. YUM German beer isn't that bad either.

I love German wine but I've never had German beer so I can't say either way on it. Your country makes amazing Rieslings and that's one of my favourite grapes when drinking wine.

Don't know bcoz I have not really tasted German beer before. here in Singapore we have a micro brewery but I've not a chance or reason to drop by. It is called Palau Brauhaus, I think I spelled it incorrectly. Maybe you can introduce some to me?
