Hello..I was swinging from recurring depression, associated with anxiety for about 8 or more years, and I have also terrible noise phobia as well. I was put on drug medication, sure..I've tried almost all SSRI anti-depressants, tranquilizers, etc. In fact, I am better now, but still I am on medication (taking Zoloft and Rivotril daily) and I know what you feel..Of help for me were the Group therapy and Cognitive therapy. Keep on, yesterday I was on the verge of desperation and had a crisis..Well, if you believe that it'll pass, all that "horror" and nightmare, it could at least sooths you. Good luck!

Don't know if you are referring to the same thing, but i had panic attacks for years. My doctor recommended that i go to Biofeedback and it really worked. It taught me to relax and showed me different methods to use when I was having an "attack". I also learned muscle relaxation and how to control my body temperature. It has been almost 3 years since I have had an anxiety attack and it really changed my life. Now I don't have to worry about going out in public and having an anxiety attack, i can live my life now! I know you say you don't want therapy but this sort of therapy really helped me a lot!

I have social anxiety/agoraphobia too, though mine is a rather special case. To be honest, meds and therapy have been my saviors! You probably also have some depression mixed in--I can tell by your "too much to explain..." line. People with depression often don't feel like doing anything and are tired a lot. If you ever need to talk, email me!! I always have a listening ear. :)

I suffer from PTSD and anxiety problems myself and I have got to encourage you to seek help. The success rate of dealing with it and over coming it alone is very, very low and will get worse without treatment.

For years I didn't want to get help thinking I was stupid, or weak for not being able to handle it myself but I learned that it's even more weak to not get help.

Ever since my cousoling and my medication life is better again. I can hold my head high in a public place, and meet new people without being scare.

Please before it gets worse seek help. There are several websites out there that have support groups but I seriously recommend seeing your GP just to start out. It takes a bigger person to ask for help than just suppress it.

i havent been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, but i have had a few panic attacks. have you tried the whole paper bag thing? it works!

as for the agorophobia. there is nothing to be afraid of! life is beautiful! you should appreciate it! take small steps towards self recovery. for example, if your afraid to go outside, take small steps like opening the door, then close it. when your ready to go past that, stick your head outside. when your comfortable with that, take a step outside, take a deep breath, and walk back inside. just keep going farther and farther. this applies to everything your afraid of.

i understand that agorophobia is a really big thing to get over. you need help from a professional. you dont have to get meds, but you can have someone there to talk to.

remember to breathe, take deep breaths, calm down, and think. do yoga or meditation. relaxation is key.

so you've been through meds, and therapists and nothing has helped? i've been in therapy for almost a year and am currently on a medication that's not working so i'm being sent to a psychiatrist. i'm 23. if you've been on medications and they haven't worked, someone should try different meds on you. my current diagnosis is major depression, severe, w/cutting. i have panic attacks too. so i know it sucks not being "normal" and i just wish you well. i'm hoping some more meds will help. i've always been against medication but lately i know i'm outta control and i wish someone would just tranqulize me. take care.

I haven't but my brother has for a very long time and meds he takes, but therapy put things into perspective, and it was extremely helpful. You could try a holistic dr. or a homopathic dr. they could help you in a different more natural way! All the things you listed are a form of mental health and it's nothing to be ashamed of!!! Good Luck!

I suffer from ptsd and panic attacks as well as deep depression disorder. I took up the practice of meditation, Tai Chi Chuan and C'hi Gung it did wonders.Continue with your meds and see a good psychologist. Hope you find a way! Good luck and remember you aren't alone.

Prayer routinely removes all anxiety. Acceptance of Christ is the pre-requisite for me. I was 7 & half years old. It's kept my anxiety in check for nearly 50 years. When I fail to pray, I notice I do become more susceptable.
