A good manager is a good leader. But managers are just people with 'manager' in their title, and may not be good leaders.

Good leaders may not be managers.

A leader is someone who has a vision and trusts his people to delegate the work to them and collaborate within a team to get things done. A manager tells people what to do, how to do it and the best way to get it done. A person who is a great manager usually makes a HORRIBLE leader because they don't know how to collaborate, and they are usually way off as far as how to accomplish the vision and have a hard time delegating without controlling.
