The fact is that extremism is very much a part of the "conversion" phenomena. Just as no one is more anti-smoking than an ex-smoker, "Born-Agains" tend to be rabidly pro-Jesus by whatever narrow range of understanding they accept and just as rabidly intolerant of non-Christians. It is irrational to embrace a primitive belief system: doing so requires a great deal of personal strength to bolster the mental barricades against reason and science and alternative perspectives. In other words, they're screaming loudest so they won't have to listen to anyone else.

To believe in something totally whether religious dogma, political stance (ie: democracy), or loving chocolate over vanilla, you're having to invest yourself when you stand up for it.
I don't like traveling to the far left or right but will go there if it's apropos to standing up for what I believe in.
*I know I didn't answer your question, sorry. It's this great breakfast of ham and eggs with toast that gets me on the rhetoric stage.
Cheers!

There are people like that in every group.
Be careful about singling out certain groups,
it is the road to hatred and bigotry. Tolerance
will keep society happily moving along,
but tolerance means putting up with people
who don't share your ideas too (we don't want
everyone thinking the same... it would be boring).

Perhaps because you define 'extremist' as 'willing to stand for something, instead of going along with the majority.'

You are correct in your observation. When one is "Born Again", " comes to Christ", or "asks Jesus into their heart" there is a certian euphoria and zeal that results. There may be several reasons for this, but it is a common thing. However, it needn't necessarily be the norm.

May you specify?
In my understanding, only one such group is dangerous.
I do not think there are other religion that destory others just because others are different from them.
That group is definately not Christian and not from the teaching in the Bible.
Which group you are refering to?

Because some of them are. They seem to forget that Jesus didn't condemn the non-believer immediately. He never slammed anyone for not believing him. They forget who they are supposed to be like in their zeal to prove they worship him above all else.

Yes I know what you mean. It reminds me of the crusades way back when. They used to justify needless killing and all sorts of other cruel stuff by say the words, God wills it. How utterly stupid and idiotic.
