You might consider keep a food diary. Just seeing what you eat each day actually written down can be a surprise - you don't always notice how much you really eat, but you sure notice the extra pounds on the scale, or when you put on those jeans.
If you don't see results, take a closer look at your eating - figure out how many calories a day you are taking in, and find out how much you really should be eating.
If you have never been active before, your body doesn't have much muscle. That means any excess weight is fat. If you don’t exercise already, just start by walking, running, or biking. Work up to 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes. That will build muscle, helping you burn fat all day long.

I don't know what your eating habits are, but I think it's probably better to eat less than change your entire diet. Simply cutting down on flavored drinks to only one a day, and drinking a ton of water, can be a huge improvement and cut a lot of calories out of your diet.
Exercise has always been key for me. I can eat as little as I want to, but if I don't exercise, then I don't lose weight.
If your body can take it, running is the fastest way to lose weight. Starting slow and working your way up is a good way to go. If not, then take a dance or aerobics class. Just get your blood pumping and sweat for at least 20 minutes 3-4 days a week, and you should be good.

Weight loss is an industry, therefore dieting doesn't work.
You don't see weight in the mirror. You do see size.
Your metabolism has a problem with either fat, sweet or volume.
Avoid the culprit from Mon to Fri. Indulge during the weekend.
You will, the first weekends. Then it will subside. Besides 5 days are more powerful than 2. Exersize, exersize, exersize.
Do specific exercises for the particular body part(s) you want to reduce.
Stay away from your scale. Measure yourself every month.
Try this if you want a long term effect. Success.

Losing weight is not something that could happen in a couple of weeks. You have to change your diet and eat healthier. You also have to exercise. It will take awhile but it will all be worth it. Go to a local gym and sign up. There, there might be personal fitness trainers that could help you lose weight.

If you add in small exercises like stand when you watch TV instead of sit, or stand at your desk instead of sit. If time isn't a concern, take the longer path while walking to the office or in the mall. Use the basket instead of a shopping cart. You can burn quite a lot of calories without even noticing.

There is no quick way.
You have to change your life completely.
Eat 1000 calories a day and you'll be fine. Also, exercise 14 times a week for 30 minutes. ;o
