I always respond either yes or no, it's just common courtesy. It seems that more and more people don't take the time to do this.

Yes I do, ppl just don't put it in an invitation for the hell of it. That's to see how many ppl will show up so that they can prepare for the occasion. But yeah, more and more ppl are becoming lazier and just show up without letting anybody know. I find that very rude and selfish!

Personally, I try to contact the person within a day of when the invitation is received. I know that I have thrown parties for my daughter, though, that clearly stated RSVP by a certain date (so that I could plan for the food/goodies), and parents called THE DAY OF the party or the kids just showed up - thankfully I had picked up some extras and sometimes I have had to run to the store while the party was going on. I think that it is most polite to RSVP as soon as you can. When throwing a party, however, it is good to plan for at least 5 extra guests so that you are not caught off guard.

I don't, sorry, I just show up or don't...I eat before I go in case there isn't enough food for everyone, I don't come to functions expecting a plate. If there aren't enough seats, I'll leave because I know they may have planned for only a certain amount of people. I'll only let the host know I'm coming if the invitation has a threat like, "Only those who RSVP will have seating and food," then I know they're serious.

Absolutely! You should always respond if the invitation requests it (assuming it's an invitation from a friend or family member, not a business).

In particular it's becoming common these days for people to not respond to wedding invitations. This is very rude indeed because those organising the wedding need to know how many people to plan for. Not responding can often cause greater expense and inconvenience to others.

Always. Someone has taken the time and thoughtfulness to invite you to share time with them. It's polite to respond either yes or no.

They put the RSVP on there because it would be helpful for them to know how many people are coming or not. I try to do it, but sometimes I forget.

Always respond. I have a family that assumes you know they are coming and it drives me crazy, so I try to come up with a clever way to let them know if they don't respond- I will run out of food and it is not my fault. They are starting to get the hint 11 years later!!!!

I do no matter what I just think about it in the sense of if I am having some gathering and I do not hear back from some I think they will be there. It is not like it takes that much time to RSVP.
Yes or No.

i do..i think it's rude if i don't RSVP. they didn't just put "RSVP" to make the invitation look pretty...they put it there for a reason..
if they didn't want you to RSVP, they wouldn't have added it in the invitation.
