YES, AND MOT. It would save so much time, the police wouldn't have to do routine police stops, wasting our time also.

In effect, this is already in place. You can only get a tax disc if you have a certificate of insurance. So the tax disc proves you have the insurance. No disc = suggests no insurance either.

They are now introducing blue stickers from MOT stations to place on the inside of car windscreens. No blue/green/orange/whatever sticker suggests no current MOT.

This is an out of date idea.

Police cars can now be equipt with a numberplate reader and computer that will automatically check passing cars for Tax and Insurance against the main Databases.

The Discs idea gives reasurrance to the Public , but not much else!

no - soon there won't be any room left on windscreens to see out of !!
Plus if you have a problem and they fall off the windscreen then you would end up with three penalty tickets (for not displaying them) - one is bad enough.
I parked for 10 minutes at the weekend and came back to a £60 ticket for not displaying my tax disc when the bloody holder had dried out and come unstuck due to this heat ............................
the disc was on the floor if the warden had bothered to look.

That would be sooo nice. In Florida it is supposedly required, but most people get insurance, get their license, register their car, and drop the insurance. Then those of us that actually have insurance are stuck in a bind. It would be great to have some sort of physical proof that you are insured, easily spotted by cops.

Yes then it would be fairer to those of us who are legal. Those that aren't legal you can see not just guess they are insured as well. I know a few people in my village that haven't even got a licence! It makes me sick!!!!

Hell no. What next, blow in to a breathalyzer before the engine can start? or perhaps answer a riddle to make sure you're alert to drive? Just because you 'can' be governed why would you 'want' to be?
