first get out!

I hope this isn't a current issue. It may already be too late. Always carry a fire extinguisher in your car. If your car is on fire, grab the fire extinguisher and get out. Aim the fire extinguisher at the base of the flames and squeeze the handle. If it is out of control and burning near the gas tank, just get as far away as you can.

well there are two ways to handle this depending on what type of insurance you have. Full-coverage or liability only? the most important step is get all the passengers and yourself out. this is where the steps change if full coverage let it burn to ground cause you will get new car. if liability you turn the car off wave down help, call 911, carry a fire extinguisher because its going to be expensive to replace. Never put your safety in jeopardy

When your car is on fire, if you have no extinguisher, call 911. It would also be wise to get away from the car in case the fire spread and the gas tank blows.

Get out!

Make sure anyone nearby is not in danger - others in the car, people in other nearby cars, structures, etc.

Get as far from the vhecile as possible. And get help. DO NOT attempt to fight the fire your self. The vehicle may explode.

Try to get out in one piece !!!

... and do not come back until the tank is blown
away and burnt out ... Honest, I saw this in an
army-exercise ... and it was very impressive.
You can really do nothing. Just thank God for
coming out of the car IN TIME — that's all.
