It has to be Edinburgh, there's so much to see and do there. There are so many great places to eat, there's a brilliant Italian called Ferris's opposite The Playhouse Theatre in Greenside Place, the staff are so friendly and they do a great lunchtime deal. If you are planning on visiting in August please ensure you have somewhere to stay before you arrive as it is almost impossible to get anything due to the festival, if you were lucky enough to the prices would be very inflated. It's best to visit off season, haggle with hotels ( they are glad of the money then ! ).
Edinburgh is the best city in The UK, it is so vibrant.

If you're looking for somewhere really special for a romantic break then I highly recommend the Grand Hotel at Eastbourne.
it's a bit pricey but the hotel is gorgeous and the staff and service are second to none....

The beautiful trossachs in scotland encompass awe inspiring mountain scenery, lush hillsides and valley and clear lochs, eg loch lomond, callender, dunblane.
I also found wales to be stunning in its mountainous scenery, as is the lake district.
If you go to wick, the northern most point of scotland, there is a solitary crescent beach of golden sand that would be all yours for the day. Take a caravan or stay in the hotels nearby.

Scotland! the highlands, all that beautiful scenery!
Or a leeeetle bit further afield: Doolin in Co. Clare Ireland...spectacular, and very very romantic.
Or further than that, without a doubt THE most romantic city in Europe, and quite cheap to get to and eat out in as its not so well known by european tourists: Heidelberg, South-West Germany.

Like others, i ought to represent Cornwall/Devon or Snowdonia. I have camped in both factors and they have tremendous historic past and surroundings and are both impressive for 'outdoorsy' activities :) i'm no longer into luxurious tenting myself yet i have been attempting to organise a tenting vacation with some previous uni friends and one among them quite recommended 'eurocamp' - they offer you the tents and each and each and every of the purposes you need to likely choose.

Devon or Cornwall, if you want a pleasant Atlantic village atmosphere, or if you want a more urban break then Edinburgh.
