Ok. I know the question sounds provocative.

However:

The Qu'ran is the DIRECTLY REVEALED word of Allah to his Prophet Muhammad.

Therefore there is NO theologically valid role for INTERPRETATION of the Qu'ran. You doubt or question the Qu'ran and you doubt and question Allah.

So, how can liberalising interpretations of Islam be anything other than hypocrisy? Either the Qu'ran is the word of God or not.

A couple of examples I wonder whether you approve of or practise?

"As for the thief, both male and female, cut off their hands. It is the reward of their own deeds, an exemplary punishment from Allah."
5:38

"The life for the life, and the eye for the eye, and the nose for the nose, and the ear for the ear, and the tooth for the tooth, and for wounds retaliation. "
5:45

Oh, and...

"Allah will gather hypocrites and disbelievers, all together in hell."
4:140

I agree that liberal or moderate members of any fundamentalist religion are ignoring the true nature of their own religions. Moderates ignore the uncomfortable, violent, or hateful elements of their own religious texts (whatever the text may be). Thus, they contribute to extremism by ignoring it.

OK..You confused the hell out of me with your answer to my question. What were you trying to say?

EDIT - OK so if it's burdensome to try to prove the nonexistence of something, then how can you say that God doesn't exist? You can't prove it so how can you attack christians?
