I used my dog's characteristics and personality as my inspiration to choosing her name. Let me explain: First: She's very sweet and good-natured, and well-mannered most of the time, which made me think of a little girl I knew named Audrey. Also, that dog can leap like a gazelle! and she me faithfully with all of her heart. Putting these attributes together, my dog's name is: "Audrey Gazelda Fideliamora" (from the Latin fidelis "faithful" + amor "love").
Of course we just use "Audrey" for all but the most formal occasions.
You might try applying these same principles to finding the best name for your dog.

Make sure it's a short name, one or two syllables, so the dog can understand it. How about Shaya?
My dad named his dog Gray Dog, which is, if nothing else, easy to remember!

We had a collie named Siobhan - it's pronounced shuh-vawn - and it's the Irish version of Suzanne.
Another cool one is Danu. I had a friend with a Weimerienr named that. Danu is a celtic goddess and was the mother of most of their gods.
