My 11 year old turning 12,wants to have a skating party, but if she can't have that she wants a back yard party with lots of her friends(and i do mean alot,b/c she is popular). She also wants to have a slumber party the night of her back yard party.

Party ideas: paper mache candy thingy)i think you know what I mean)
trampolene
karioke
bobbin for lipstick or nail polish(sounds weird but girls at this age LOVE cosmetics
relay races such as ballon race where they put the balloon between thier knees and race trying not to drop it or break it and if they do they have to statr over
my daughter loves scavenger hunts.(before the party make clues and hide the prize each team will follow the clues and the first team to reach the prize is the winners
marshmellow pass
ring toss(if you know someone good with wood, you can have them make a ring holder that looks like a cake with candles ans you can get rings in the sporting goods store at Wal-mart)
Pizza girls love pizza
There are many more ideas that you could come up with

FOR THE SLUMBER PARTY:

teach the girls how to apply simple makeup
facial masks
hair care and hairdo's
let them try to apply the make up on themselves or each other
fashion show(of course let the other girls know ahead of time so they can bring some of their clothes)
movies are always a big thing

FOR GIFTS: bicycles aare always good
no Barbies as they are about to grow out of the Barbie stage
make up and make up bag--simple things like hand lotions, bath soaps, lipstick for young girls, rougue and nail polish
CLOTHES at this age the clothes are all the rage.If you need help picking out the perfect "IN" clothes ask the store help for advice. What may seem weird to you, your daughter is going to love(just don't let her do the"Brittney Spears'thing)
purses are good for girls this age
new comforter and pillow shams that are more age approiate for her
if possible finacially small tv for her room is good
CD's and cd player
diary
scrap book and materials-if you don't have a camera and can't afford one get her a throw away camera with her scrap book
pretty necklaces or bracelets are good-the charm bracelets are still the "IN" thing

There are many ideas to think of and maybe by seeing my suggetions can help you come up with more.Girls at this age are not yet teenagers and not quite kids any more, they are PRETEENS.So it is more difficult to pick out the right gifts.

I don't know if you mean for a gift or for a party? But for a gift you can buy her a nice book which relates to girls, since this is near the age when she is growing up. If you want to have a party, you can do something simple with cake, pizza, chips, punch, the tradiational party foods and maybe have some dancing. Even at this age, loot bags might still work at the end of the party. Good luck.

10 turning to 11.. cake, candles, balloons, confetti blasters, punch, games to do with friends outside that involve water and sliding into things.

a 10 speed bike, if they don't have one already, roller blades... hire a band that plays their favorite music...

but do all this on the top of a volcano that's a great place.

well if you can't do that.. do it at a mall.. their favorite make sure you get in the way of everyone, especiall those old farts who do their walkies in the morning.

I would buy her a book. I won Anne of Green Gables when I was that age and I have loved it ever since. Then you can gradually give her the entire series :)

depending on what the girls preferences are you could always do a theme of her favorite tv show or movie and get a sugar screen cake from the local store.
