Canon is the leading manufacturer of the camera. For a starter I would suggest A410 which you can get in $110-$130, little better go for A510 in $180-$220. These are 3 MPix but and runs on 2 AA size battery.
Best buy would be A610, has a 1.8 inch swivel screen with 5Mpix, 9 point auto focus but consumes 4AA size battery. The video quality and size is too good too. You can get it in anywhere from $200 to $300.
Check for the deals on www.deals2buy.com, www.dell.com.

Your decision depends on your use, budget, and features you are looking for. I like the Casio line of Exilim which are very thin, have 5 and 6 megapixel quality, and even product high quality video. You can purchase these at Radio Shack for around $200 - $300. Try 'em. They are awesome!

First, how much money do you want to spend? What kind of photos are you going to take? I like my Canon, but it first depends on how much you want to spend.
