"Christianity began as a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When it went to Athens, it became a philosophy. When it went to Rome, it became an organization. When it went to Europe, it became a culture. When it came to America, it became a business."

Where am I wrong?

You are not wrong. Selling things that will further your relationship with G-d is horrible and offensive.

I think you are correct in how the culture of different countries have trivialized what Christianity really is...a relationship with the God of the universe! But the truth is that a lot of Christians enjoy the merchandising. It is a way of telling others of Christ without verbally communicating. I can wear a christian T-Shirt and people assume I'm a christian. It's all about what you buy that can tell others about Christ that can make Christianity like a business. I think that there is an outcry against this mindset in some Christians...just not think it's the majority yet. I think some are genuinely concerned about building up the body of Christ through the preaching of the gospel of Christ and through building community by actually communicating with each other...building relationships. It's a big challenge.

You lie to yourself. Simon tried to purchase the powers of Pentecost from the apsotles. Evil men have used religion for personal gain since its first appearance.
