The first thing you need is a love of God. He must be first in your life. Study and learn your faith. Marriage is a gift that came from God, just like family is a gift. With Him first in your life, the other blessings of marriage and children will naturally pour forth.
This natually means that if you have God first in your life, then you mate should also do the same. When the two of you come together, God will bind you in His love.
A good rule of thumb for what your priorities should be are these:
1. God first.
2. Your spouse second.
3. Your kids third.
4. You last.
Some people get it backwards and it looks something like this:
1. Them first.
2. Spouse?
3. Kids?
4. ....God...?
...and then everything falls apart.
Put God first, look for that in others, and everything will take care of itself.
God bless.

my boyfriend has all the qualities ive always looke for, like making me laught, someone i can be open with and tell anything to him, hes extreemely sweet, and respectful, and other girls always look at me and say that they want a boyfriend like mine, and yes he is a Christian, but he used to do things in his past that weren't right and stopped going to church cause he was always working or didnt have a ride to go, but now he is getting closer and coming more and this makes me happy and so slowly by slowly he is matching some of the qualities that are mentioned in the Bible, it just takes time and love him so much for it.

God warns us Christians not to be unequally yoked. Seek God for a mate patiently. You may not have everything in common, but you should have some things that you enjoy together, in the spirit as well as in the natural.

Not all Christians think like this, but the first thing I evaluate on a guy is if he's also a Christian. If I'll share my life with him, he must love God as I do! Of course, I evaluate if he reflects Christ in his life (or if he only calls himself a Christian while he is not).
Of course, I also expect him to be responsible, polite, funny... and I most like him too!

The Bible tells us to not "be unequally yoked"
A relationship will only work if you share the same beliefs and values. If not, it will be like the ox and donkey being "unequally yoked", in that one will want to go one way, the other the other way. Instead of straight furrows in the plowed field, you have wavy curvry rows that run everywhere.
Get the metaphor?

I would be looking for someone who is faithful and honest, someone who gave of his time in the church and / or a particular ministry, someone who had a heart for God and a heart for kids that showed in his actions , not just his words. I would also pay close attentio to how he talks about and treats his mother and other women in his life- he should have a high respect and regard for other people.

I am confident that if you trust God with your life completely, he will lead you to someone who is in a deep relationship with Him. The man you seek will be patient, unselfish, and will have an absolute respect of you, he should also have good ethics and have Christ-like expectations of himself and you. If this is the man that God has in store for you, your relationship will grow and prosper; also, ALWAYS remember to pray with and for each other and your relationship.

You seek a mate with qualities you desire and can put up with. For instance smoking is a deal breaker for some while others can tolerate it. Do what's best for you.
