Some cats just love to communicate. It is possible that she misses another cat - my kitten used to mieow a lot when I first got him, because he was always looking for his mother and sister. Now he just informs me of things. Or he expresses his irritation of a fly / spider is too high for him to reach...

She has a reason, but it is a cat reason and you are a person so it is hard for you to figure out. Is she fixed? Constant meowing can mean "I'm in the mood for love." If not fixed, get her fixed hand this will stop that.
If she part-or all Siamese? If so you are in for it. Siamese tend to be more vocal than other cats.
Contrary to popular notion, cats when they are sick, tend to hide. It is the custom among small animals to do this so that no larger predator will eat you.
Standing around meowing and drawing attention to yourself is not something you want to do unless you feel ok.
Cats don't meow much to other cats. Meowing is something cats to with humans. Mostly to get our attention. The amount of meowing varies form cat to cat. When I have had two cats at a time it seens that one cat is the "spokescat" and does the meowing for the pair.
I think you just have a mouthy cat. If you really hate it ignore the meowing. If you like it, just say "I love you too" to kitty.

She does it to annoy you. It's what cats do. Cats were developed by the Ancient Sumerians as specialised torture devices when sharpened bamboo under the fingernails was outlawed under the Nineveh Convention. Please be very carefully not to give any indication that there is anything in your home that you particularly like. If she thinks you like something, she will claw it to shreds or pee all over it or both. Ignore the miaowing. Showing how much it distresses you will only encourage her to do it more. She will do it anyway because she already knows. Gag her with a sock.

she probably gets lonley easy. when she meows, talk to her. shes looking for reassurance that your not taking her to another place to drop her off. when i adopted my cat, she was a stray under a car hood and someone started their engine and she lost her leg, anyway, when she used to hear a car she would go bezerk and try to run off and hide. and she also used to just meow, it was a small meow but constant. so i talked to her when she did and i am assuming it was reassurance to her that i was okay to be around with and that i wasnt going to hurt her. you have remember, animals cannot speak for themselves, you dont know what happened to your cat before you adopted her. she could of had kittens and lost them as well. when i adopted a tuxedo cat 4 yrs ago, they told me she was a kitten, well i traced back to her vet and found out she had 2 litters of kittens and the vets took them away. just pick up your cat and assure her that everything is okay. scratch that bald spot right in front of her ears, cats love that. and their chin. shes needing more loving than you may realize.

Hi, I have 5 cats and there is only one and she is a gril and she miows all the time, for no reason coz like you say, you give her food, water, attention. etc, I think its just her way of talking to me. Also She loves to get up stairs and winges for me to let her up. There so cute

Could be several things: she's still unsure about her new surroundings and wants reassurance; she doesn't feel well (you can tell if the meow sounds like she's in pain); maybe she misses another cat who used to share the home she was in.

If she keeps it up, and you are uncomfortable with it, then talk to your vet.

She doesn't meow for no reason. She has a reason, you just haven't figured it out yet. Some cats are very vocal and will talk about anything. my litter needs sifted, thanks for keeping the litter clean, my water isn't fresh enough, great fresh water, i'm lonely play with me, what kind of game are you playing?, it is time to eat, no thanks, and the one that is often overlooked... i don't feel well and don't know how to make you understand.

She wants you to talk to her!!! In the past, she may have had an owner who was vocal with her; I talk to all 5 of my cats, and we chat quite often!! Try telling her she is beautiful and what you have for her tea, and what youve done all day- its not what youre saying, just the sound of your voice and the fact that you are saying it to her

What is "no reason"? We can't see or hear like them; it would be nice if we could understand each-other. My Stimpy will stare at me for awhile and for no obvious reason whop me upside the head. It doesn't hurt, but I wonder. She's just being a cat.
