Well The Exorcist was based on actual events, but elaborated for theatrical purposes. The movie has the exorcism occurring to a young girl at her home somewhere in New England but in actuality it took place in a Hospital room in St. Louis, MI, and the possessed was a young boy not a girl. I don't know if the boys head spun around but I don't believe it did. That was just an additive for the movie. But if it were to happen then the child's head would sever and the body would be dead.

Well, first of all, it wasn't real. It was a fictional movie.
Second, if the devil COULD make someone do that, he'd make sure the bones don't break and the tendons don't tear because he's using the little girl to get his point across and freak people out. In the movie, he made her do all sorts of unnatural things.

It's only a movie, a work of fiction. I have heard that "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" is closer to the truth, but I have no first-hand experience with demon-possession or exorcism to say with any authority.

I think this was a movie trick. Nevertheless when a demon is this close he is very powerful and could make you think she was turning her head all the way around.
