God promised to never flood the earth again and as a sign of that promise we have the rainbow. If God chose to do another "cleansing" of mankind and chose to do it by fire, could he be using global warming to do this? Dry everything out and it's crispy critter city?

In fact, that is exactly what God will do in the end. He says that the earth is "reserved for the fire."
However, modern global warming is a direct result of the fact that the sun is at the peak of it's warming cycle. The sun goes through cycles where it puts off more energy.
Anthropogenic causes for global warming (man's misuse of the environment) simply do not create enough of an impact to affect the world on this scale.
Do you know that termites create FAR more CO2 than humans?
Do you know that it was hotter on earth in the medieval period? Do you know how many SUV's, refineries, etc they had back then?
Did you know that 30 years ago, the scientific consensus was the earth was actually getting colder?
CO2 sources (in billins of tons of carbon):
Burning fossil fuels: 5.3
Land use: 2.6
Photosynthesis: 100-120
Plant respiration: 40-50
Plant and animal decay: 50-60
sea-surface gas exchange: 100-115
net ocean uptake: 2.4
If you really want to stop global warming, you must either destroy the sun (to stop it's increased energy output), destroy all plants (to stop photosynthesis), or drain the oceans (to stop sea-surface gas exchange). Good luck!
It is the sun's cycle. The rest is just political maneuvering designed to control your wallet.

How can it be someone else's tool? It is the tool of human beings. Let us not drag any unknown power into this. Consider the population growth in the last one hundred years or so, and how much heat that and all activities associated with it has been created on the planet and its atmosphere! That is what is causing global warming. But never mind and there is no need to worry too much about it. Every action has its own reaction. Global warming is no exception. The nature will find its own solution as and when the situation becomes awfully serious! By the way, the belief that God does this and that is all a sheer MYTH!
