my cat is 17 years old and up until now he has been in really good health- all of a sudden within the last two days he would be walking along and then his legs would just give way , or sometimes he would just sway from side to side (as if he was drunk!). Is the end near for my beloved mog? (p.s I am taking him to the vet tonight)

It's not easy being a cat owner especially when they get older. I'm afraid to say it sounds to me that your Kitty is probably ready for that cat box in the sky...
17 years is a good age and I expect (if you're in the UK) the heat has affected Kitty. Sounds to me as if she/he may be suffering with kidney infection.
I hope all goes well at the Vets and that I'm wrong and that Kitty gets to live for a few more years.
Best of Luck
Let me know how you got on.

This could be very serious or it could be nothing at all. Wait and see what the vet says and we will all hope for the best. Try to remember he has had a good life, and if he is no longer able to enjoy it, it may be up to you to have the courage to face a tough decision.

All i can say is good luck with the vet. I hope he gets better! But, this could be the end. But think positive, at least he has lived a long, happy life, (if he has to be put down)
GOOD LUCK!

Glad to hear that you're taking him to a vet tonight. That is always the best thing to do for a pet with problems. Good luck.

I'm glad you're taking him to the vet. There's really no way to know what might be causing it. Old age is definitely a factor, however.

He may have had a bump on the head, or may have arthritis. On the other hand, he may simply be old and weak. Thank you for taking him to the vet, and for loving him.

At 17 years old,
He very well could have had a stroke.

Aww bless him, he might just have an ear infection or something as this can upset their balance. I hope he is ok
