I make that determination, and my judgement is final and absolute.

Of course it is subjective. In a general way the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked. But that precept only applies to a question where the asker is looking for the truth and really doesn't know the answer to their question.

In this forum many people don't ask questions on that basis and so some people categorize their questions as "stupid" or "trolling" or whatever other term seems appropriate to them.

I just try and ignore questions like that and look for questions where the person is looking to be informed about a matter that they are curious about.

I think some questions are obviously stupid, and it isn't so much the question that's being posted, but rather the posters that are stupid. I think the problem with some religious questions (& answers) is that there are many people who are intolerant of anything that isn't what they believe in. And that goes for both religious and non-religious people alike.

If your question isn't even a question, but rather a statement of your beliefs, than it is already a violation of the Community Guidelines. Not because of what you believe in, but because it isn't even a question. It also seems that some "questions" are just used to provoke others into anger and to answer as such. And even if the question is just standard and ordinary, if the answerer doesn't even like the topic or intention of the question, they themselves are no better because of their intolerant nature.

This isn't limited to religious questions either. Any topic that is hotly debated because of the large number of views and opinions present, will deliver the same amount of stupidity in their questions and answers (i.e. - politics). I think we need to practice more objectiveness, tolerance, and intelligence in our answer/question formats and less crap.

Stupid vs intelligent is not at all the issue so that determination does not need to be made. The issue is with ones that violate the terms of agreement and community guidelines. Many violate the rule about inciting hatred or violence. Others are not real questions and are simply a rant. Others are insulting. Many are just obvious problems. Read the rules. It is not as subjective as you make it out to be.

Everyone should be allowed to ask any question they want as long as it follows the rules and all that...I saw that someone said your Mercedes Benz question was stupid...that was just a totally rude comment on the part of the person who answered that. Or else that person was just too young to know what you were referring to. That's probably a better theory. So, anyway, it is subjective, in my opinion.

I think that questions asked with the intention of insulting another person's beliefs are stupid. Unless, of course, the person asking the insulting question is stupid to begin with.
Or maybe the person is asking a serious question that just seems to be insulting, because the beliefs are stupid to begin with...

Of course, that is not subjective. It's just my opinion.

I prefer objective questions rather than subjective ones. Knowledge is considered to be objective.

"subjective knowledge" may refer to false claims of knowledge. Since personal opinions are subjective they are bias therefore irrelevant.

to a point, yes. But there are some questions that all of us are so tired of like; "Prove to me that god doesn't exist" or worse (One of your favorites) " If evolution is real why are there still monkeys"
Those are two examples of STUPID questions. Savvy?

Subjectivity is the only way to judge such a thing.

Any other way is stupid.

I would think the stupid one's are the one's that are based on the desire to insult someone other than the desire for knowledge and understanding.

yes, when you look at the questions you get to decide that for yourself if you are interested in determining that.
