How often should i have some meat or a protien shake through out the day.

well first of all, you should incorportate protein into your diet every day...but lifting 5 days a week is not healthy....in fact, lifting too often doesnt let your muscles heal fast enough so instead of getting bigger and stronger, they are staying weak and small.

i suggest lifting every other day and making sure you get a full day of rest in between while still eating lean protein everyday.

Lifting 5 times a week isn't too bad, but just be sure that you are giving your body a break (don't work the same muscle groups every day).

It has been suggested that you take in 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight (for a male). I've seen some recommendations go as high as 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight, but I felt this was excessive (more isn't necessarily better).

You'll want to scatter your protein throughout the day -- consuming food every 2 - 3 hours to keep your metabolism rolling and keep your body well-supplied with nutrients.
