the first thing to remember about house training a puppy is there ability to hold themselves is limited. a rule of thumb is they can hold "it" usually 1 hour for each month of age. 2 month= 2 hours, 3 month= 3 hours, etc. when your puppy wakes up (morning, nap, whatever) the pup has to go, right then! take the pup out. when the pup eats or drinks, it has to go, take the pup out. after exercise (play), take the pup out. when the pup does it's thing outside praise it. a lot. tell the pup how good, how smart it is. you have to pay attention to the pups "looking for it's spot" behavior. when you see that behavior indoors, whisk the pup out. if you catch the pup in the act, simply tell it "NO!" and whisk it outside. if you find a puddle or pile after the fact, clean it up with an enzyme cleaner (pet food store) get a newspaper and hit.... yourself in the head and say "i should have been paying more attention" daytime training they get pretty fast. night time training is easier if you crate train the pup. also remember the one hour/one month rule. you will have to get up through the night to take the pup out. good luck.

start with Sit.
use visual cues, hand signals. beagles are deaf when they are distracted by something else, esp when they are using their nose. food is important to draw the attention.
really easy to train at home, but when we try it on the street with even a bit of distraction, dog will ignore u. so start from a quiet place and gradually increase the level of disturbance.
beagles are crazy for food, but mine is more into PLAY. find out what ur dog likes, eg. ball, frisbee. use play as reward. coz they got bored by training very easily. i usually do a set of 10 SITs with treats then play ball with my dog.
clicker works too. i use all visual/treat/clicker to train my beagle. it takes some patience. but by the age of 1 to 1.5 u will find training easier.

Training as in:
Sit
Stay
Come
Beg
Speak?
First, buy a "clicker" at your local petstore. It's a plastic "cube" with a yellow or red button on it, and when you press it, it makes a clicking sound. When your puppy sits, and his butt reaches the ground, click it, along with saying the command. Praise and give treats to him. use a high pitched voice when you praise him, because that means that you are happy, and Beagles will normally do anything to please their owners.
the Clicker will help train faster!!
