You arrive at the gate of heaven and hell. Two guardians are here. None of them is seating in front of a particular gate, they are just walking around. One of the gate leads to heaven, the other to hell, and as you might have guessed, you have to find which one. The only thing you know is that one of the guardian is always lying and the other always telling the truth. You can ask one question to one of them.

Oldie but goodie, ask either guardian this question, " IF I ask the other guardian which door leads to heaven, what will he say?" Note the answer, pick the other door.

Ask whichever one of them "if I were to ask the other guardian which door leads to heaven what would he say?" then take the door that he doesn't point to. The both of them are going to lie anyway if you ask this question.
P.S you forgot to say you don't know which one is lying and which one tells the truth.It took me ages to figure this out the first time I heard it.

you ask if the other guy tells the truth-there is a whole really great logic behind theat , but I always thought, wouldn't it be a LOT simpler to just ask if my eyes are blue? or what color is my shirt?
We always take the simple and make it complicated
