I used to take seroxat and every time i tried to wean myself off them i felt awfull and would always give in and start taking them again. The withdrawl symptoms were terrible.I managed to come off them by myself and feel a lot better for it,so try and stick at it,its not easy but itl be worth it in the end.Good luck.

I have done this before, not with prozac, but other drugs similar. Usually you have to pick up another bad habit to get over the one you was on. Cold turkey is so dangerous to those around us. They don't deserve the torture we put them through.
People say turn to your religion to help in these times. Where you are at right now, I don't think all of the Gods/Goddesses in the world could help - sorry - but it is the truth. You are withdrawing from a chemical dependence, and your mind and body are in desperate need of something that only a doctor can prescribe.
I hate to tell you this, but when I was in your shoes I turned to the natural world and I consumed marijuana, and it does help.
I actually think that THC has many medicinal proprieties and one is to help stabilize the mental brain waves that the doctors tell us is malfunctioning in our own heads.
When you were young, did your mother have a special routine for when you were sick? Mine did, and today if I feel sick or just not fully there/here I can go get me some chicken noodle soup, popsicles, a coloring book and some crayons, oh yeah and some Sprite and 'doctor' myself, it always makes me feel better, just like mom made me feel better.
I wish you the very best!

You have made the right decision to come off the prozac because in my opinion taking them is ok for the short term but certainly not long term -even though you feel lousey at the moment you will feel better, I promise you.. do you have a supportive family that can help you through this tough patch? Hopefully the answer is yes :-)) take care and all the best to you!

Great stuff! Be careful though! The best way off Prozac is ...if you are on 1 a day, try 1 every other day for a couple of weeks. If you find yourself feeling bad you can always take a pill on that day. If all goes well you can then go to 1 every 3rd day for another couple of weeks. Slowly reducing them to 1 a week taken on the day you feel is the worst one of the week (usually Monday). After a few weeks you can stop and not even notice the loss.

Keep at it, especially if you are seeing the doctor so he can keep an eye on you. What you are doing is going to be difficult but you will get through it if you take it one day at a time. You will start feeling better and in the end you will feel so much better for it. The fact you are trying to help yourself like this for you and your children proves that you are not a horrible person and, i guess, you are someone that has gone through a difficult time and is trying to sort themselves out. Good for you and good luck.

I hope it works for you. If you feel that being on them is not the way to go then I wish you luck. You are bound to feel a bit crappy coming off something on which you have become dependent, but as long as those around you know what you are trying to do I am sure they will be supportive and understanding if your moods go sour at times. I am glad to hear that you are seeing your doctor too, as I would never recommend coming off any prescription anti-depressant without medical support.

Good luck to you!

Are you weaning off slowly, or did you just stop suddenly? I understand how you feel about being a horrible erson. I am also struggling to find a combination of drugs that works for me. I have children, and really feel that they could have a better mom than me right now, but i know i am working on it, and it will get better soon. Same for you, keep working on it, keep your doctor informed, talk to your children about what is going on (depending on their ages). just keep trying.

Remember that when you started on Prozac that
It takes a while to get into your system.
Therefore getting it out will take a while too.
Do you think also that you
might really be coming down th something.
Make sure you keep in touch with your dr. to let him know any more symtoms that worry you. Don't
worry about bothering them with these questions.
They should be there for you.
Hope this gets better...........

I don't think that you are moaning. I think that you are great for weaning yourself off this and looking to the future. Good luck to you. You are doing what is best for you and your children. You have a good attitude and you will do well.

You've been sloooowly weening yourself right? As in cutting down gradually and then finally stopping after several weeks? As far as I know that's the proper way to do it...

If so, then I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy, but I'm sure you'll have many great days in the future!!!
