the easiest thing to do is to buy some lobsters, some corn on the cob, some red potatos, -- plus, a lot of butter -- and do it up yourself.

Just throw it all in a big pot and treat yourself to a lobsterfest.

Mix it with some real cold beer, I would go for some Mexican beer, probably Tecate, and life would be good.

You could do all this for about 30 dollars.

If you want throw in some chopped red and white cabbage, some vinegar, salt, and a dollop of mayo.

Cheap Lobsters are hard to find in NYC. The Pearl Oyster Bar in the Village has one of the best Lobster Roll - not sure about whole lobsters. If driving is ok for you, try one of the seafood restaurants on City Island in the Bronx such as the Lobster Box. There is a Red Lobster near Times Square (42nd St) -- my one and only experience there was not so good; both food and service were pretty bad.

A real answer now: In Manhattan: Mercury Bar Third Ave. Betwwenn 33rd and 34th has 1 1/4 Lb. Lobster for 12.95 and "second lobster dish" for $6.95. Can't vouch for quality, never ate there, but pass it all the time, it's in my neighborhood.

Francisco's Centro Vasco: 159 West 23rd St. between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, 212-645-6224 Rated #1 for lobster and "not too expensive". Doesn't take reservations, long wait on weekends.

There is no Red Lobster in Manhattan, and they are 2nd rate anyway. There is one in the Bronx, but you would be better off going to City Island which has several reasonable places and fishing village atmosphere.
