I know I can't have whey or buttermilk or lactose, what else must I avoid?

Lactose is a sugar found in milk products, which many people can't break down properly. Whey contains lactose and milk proteins. Lactic acid, however, is completely different. Lactic acid, while it starts with "lact" is NOT necessarily derived from milk, though there are some ways of creating lactic acid (like in a bacterial starter culture) that involve milk, but likely would not have much milk products in them. So the answer to that is most likely: no, you don't have to avoid lactic acid.

But going back to the allergy, do you know if you are allergic to the proteins or the sugar? I would see a Health Kinesiologist to find out. They can do allergy testing for you and also use acupressure to train your body in just a couple of sessions so that you can eat what you previously were allergic to. I've had it and it's amazing. I don't know why more people don't do this -- who likes to have allergies? You can find a practitioner near you here: http://www.subtlenergy.com/training/locate_practitoner.htm

If you are not lactose intolerant. It is probably the protein in the mild you are allergic to.
