No, is anger/stress reduction. You have found a non-violent way to releive the anger. Many people say to hit the pillow or take out the anger on something like that. It's normal, safe, and in a way what the doctor ordered.
Swat away.

no.. actually, there are two sides to the whole thing.. hearing (or reading) about someone doing that causes us to feel a sense of empathy which makes us think that it is not a crazy thing because it is only to release stress. However, if you actually see someone doing that, I don't think your first thought would be "Thats a normal thing." More likely it would be "Nutcase." So if you want to release anger, do it privately.

This is one of the odder ones I've heard and I feel sorry for the poor tree, but it's still better than breaking a person's limb.

It's a lot better than taking it out on another person and/or an animal. Just don't do it to your neighbors' trees.
If you were to do it in a park with a lot of people around, it might not be too good an idea either!

Yes.. and on top of that they are a bad and violent person.
And probably a little dumb, people that resort to violence generally do so because they can't think of anything else to do.
Anyone that says no to this grew up in a household where this was normal behavior or are crazy themselves.

I don't think it's crazy. I'd rather take out my anger on something else then a human being...and vice versa, don't want anyone beating me up.

If that's what helps, then I don't see any reason why it's crazy. It's out of the oridnary, granted, but everyone has their own methid of calming down. It doesn't hurt anyone, truly. So I don't see why not.
