At church we are called upon to sacrifice two meals (all food and all drink including water) once per month and give at least the value of those meals as a fast offering. I can't sacrifice the meals due to health reasons, but do give an equivalent of money and try to sacrifice something else. But I got to thinking, for my sacrifice to be a true sacrifice, I must give up something that is difficult to give up. What do you think?

For me, the value (difficulty) of the sacrifice is very important. If I had a guest to my home, I would rather give them the best of the meal rather than the scraps after I finished. Should the principles of sacrifice be any different? It is one way that I show respect and honor.

I don't think it has to be something difficult to give up, but it should be of some value to you. If you are required to give up two meals per month, and you can give a money offering instead, then just go out to eat and donate the amount you paid to your sacrifice.

I think it is quite commendable that you are wanting to please God and are willing to give anything up. The Bible says that God loves a cheerful giver and I am sure that he appreciates the fact that you have done this out of the goodness of your heart. Sacrifice does not have to hurt.

to help others selflessly matters much rather than above, just love all and be human that is enough to please the supreme, not just offering one or two or more times of meals.
