You don't "contract" cancer, you develop it. Contracting is a term used for contagious/communicable illnesses and cancer is NOT contagious.

Half of all smokers will get ill at least I believe. I think it is one in three generally (in the developed world), but that sounds like a dreadful statistic. I hope I'm wrong.
