I have watched as my dog intentionally picks up her bowl and tips it over. She then pushes it on over with her nose. She's a 1 yr old siberian husky.

My dog does this when she is mad at us for not giving her enough attention. Try giving your dog some extra TLC and see if it goes away. Good luck!

Maybe she doesn't like her bowl.... some dogs want to be sure they have a clear view of the surroundings to keep a watchful eye on their surroundings and their packmates.

My male GSD used to only eat his food where I could see him... or maybe it was so he could see me.... he would take mouthfuls of food, bring it into the room where I was, drop the food at my feet and then eat it. It has gotten better as he's gotten older.... he started just coming into the doorway where I was, then the next room over and now he just takes the food out and puts it on the floor just in the dining room where the dog bowls are kept.

It is a strange activity, but I've heard from quite a few people that lots of German Shepherd Dogs do this.... so maybe other breeds that are closer in blood to their wolf heritage do this.

I guess because we eat with bowls doesn't mean that dogs have to. Have you ever watched your dog when you gave it something it really liked? I feed mine dry food, but once in a while I'll give her wet. She goes crazy. The bowl is really in her way. She moves it 9 different places before she's done. However, I find it funny when I give her dry food, she will take one piece, come over to where I am, eat it, then go back and get another. All dogs have their different quirks.

Some dogs have peculiar eating rituals. You don't indicate whether she eats the food or not. If not, maybe you should try a different dry dog food. Then again, maybe she doesn't like that particular bowl.

My Scottie used to do that. She, however, would then eat the food. Maybe its the bowl. It is metal and might leave a metalic taste? Maybe your dog just likes to eat of off of the floor. She did.

She wants your attention.. and maybe she doesn't like the food. Try a new brand.

My pup use to do that with the WATER BOWL!!!

She was (and still is) just an evil tyrrant, though.

Just like other species they have their own idiosyncrasies. My one cat will take a mouthful of food, drop it on the floor and play with it before she will eat any of it.

She wants your attention. She likes watching you clean it up. We feed our dogs from a spoon. (they like alot of attention too)
