I'm trying to reconcile the idea of the biblical God being a God who loves Humanity, and a few verses in the bible.

Consider the following:
In Genesis we have the story of Adam and Eve eating from the forbidden tree. God, in His infinite wisdom and power, decides to curse every Human with death and disease and the inheritance of the original sin (thus we are all born sinners).

Now consider that not one Human has a choice about being born, and not one Human alive had anything to do with the decisions of Adam and Eve. If we give life imprisonment (or execution) to a murderer, we do not do likewise to his/her children, and their children etc.

So how does cursing every Human since Adam and Eve with death, disease, and the inheritance of original sin demonstrate God's love for Humanity?

Fascinating:

Already the Christians are chastising me for a question they will not answer (except to say I should be grateful for being born into death, disease, and the inheritance of original sin for which I need faith in Christ so that the original sin can be washed away along with the rest of my sins).

Considering that if God wanted, God could have wiped out Adam and Eve and started over with two new Humans, thus avoiding the need to curse all of Humanity with death, disease, and the inheritance of original sin (and spared Jesus the cross), I wonder why he decided to bring all this misery into the world when it was in His power to start over and avoid all that Human misery.

Applecore: That's a very impressive answer. I'd not considered the "trap" aspect in the way you've described. Very enlightening. Thanks.

The Tree of Knowledge was a trap. There is no logical or definable reason for the presence of the Tree other than to create a paradox in which mankind loses regardless of choice. Remember first that Eve was an afterthought based on the Genesis account. She was not created until Adam had observed that all other species maintained the ability to procreate and self perpetuate. Only Adam was left without that gift until he beseached God to provide him with a mate. Now with the presence of another, the concept of Good-v-Evil had a forum. The Tree simply served as the medium for demonstration. "For you will be like God, knowing both good and evil." Choose not to eat of the Tree and you voluntarily surrender your freedom of choice. Choose to consume of the Tree and you are not obedient. The innocence lost was that Adam and Eve were coerced and taken advantage of, they were no longer niave. Upon eating of the Tree Adam and Eve no longer accepted exactly what they were told, they began to use their own experience to guide their concious actions. The Tree of Life was left untouched and still persists as the final aspiration of mankind. The blessings of this Tree are only to be bestowed upon the most loyal of followers, therefore creating an environment of subserviant followers blindly adhering to an already disproven philosophy. The Serpent didn't lie, we have that knowledge. From this account to current times the control of information and knowldge is the foundation for the architecture of the power grid of the Religio-Political construct of control.

With Adam & Eve doing the ONLY think God said not to and Cain killing Abel, you should be grateful God let the human race continue and have a choice of whether or not to follow Him. Some peo[ple are grateful and some people take life for granite. Think what you want but you probably would have done the wrong thing also

What ignorance.
Man has been rebelling against God's authority since creation.
You continue to exemplify that rebellion, even questioning God's goodness.
Do you deny you are a sinner?
Hopefully your wouldn't be that foolish.
Well, even thoough you ave sinned God in His mercy has provided a way out through the Death of His Son Jesus Christ .
You may take that option or not...You STILL have a free choice.... You can choose to die in your sin or you can choose eternal life thru Christ.

What will it be Pal?

God did not curse human beings with death, disease, or the inheritance of original sin. God gives us the gift of eternal life.
All we need to do is accept it.

www.godisimaginary.com The very fact that humans have higher morals than the "god" of the christian bible is proof that man created god not the other way around. Most Christians avoid these facts so they can also avoid critical thinking.
