What's all that about? What does it mean? Why would a man want to be an Island?

It means that no man (or woman) can live their life without the help, influence or opinions of others.
You can be independant, but you cannot survive entirely alone (ie - like an island in the ocean / or deserted on an island alone)

It means that no man can stand alone. We were not meant to go through this life alone. Most me will agree that with the love a good woman they could conquer the world.
