You will get a better resdual value on the Merc, but make sure you are comparing a similar specification vehicle (Not a Classic!)
I'd go for the Clio Dci 100 bhp! - all the toys with £50 a year road tax.

God yes, they are OK to get from A - B but bit pants unless you put all extra gizmo's on them, also pot luck with reliability, early ones may have got you A - B, but not necessarily back again, and some of the new ones are same. Fiesta is a good car, as is the Clio and hate to say it but Clio is one of safest small cars. End of day your choice but if you want to drive round in a Mercedes Sooty Van go for it :)

We have an A-class 150 classic (petrol). The smallest of the baby benzes. We're really happy with it. The fuel economy is good. The motor size is fine for us. Space is amazing considering the footprint of the car is the same length as the Peugeot 206 (A-class is slightly wider)
The options are a bit expensive, which is why we took the cheapest model (+ radio, speed control & metallic paint), but it comes with airbags, ABS & ESP as std. The standard air-conditioning unit is thermostatically controlled and works well. No need to pay extra for the improved air conditioning unit.

Ford Fiesta is a great deal.
But Mercedes is Mercedes, always sounds better. Dont b surprised about the prize, nice brands anyway need to align on the market... so go for the A class!
And please, never buy a french car!

I like them. I wish that they had them here in the US. Mercedes tend to need a little more attention (maintenance than Japanese or American cars), but they have an great ride. Good luck.

The early A-class had poor reliability, they addressed these problems on the later ones.

prepare for high maintinance costs. Benz takes the highest grade fuel, highest grade oil. repair of benz cars is much more expensive than any other. otherwise its a reliable car, it has style and prestige, if thats what your looking for you got the right car

Listen love, if you've got enough money to buy a car, then you should be old enough to make up your own mind. I take it you do have a driving licence?
