my cat had kittens 13 weeks ago, the male kitten eats his food no problem but the female kitten will only eat plain chicken.I've tried mixing this with kitten food but she will not go near it.Even if i put tuna or any fish down she will not even attempt to taste it. Its almost like she doesn't like the smell of the kitten food and won't go near it. She is the same with dry food. I have just been feeding her on chicken and have tried starving her to see if she'll eat what the other kitten is eating but she just will not go near it. If anyone has any suggestions i would so grateful.thanx.

TRy mixing a small amount of milk in with dry food. Soemtimes they will not eat the dry food because it is too hard, but they want the milk, which softens up the dry food.

Make sure that this is always available and STOP giving her chicken.

she will not starve herself. She is not eating because she wants and knows that you will give her chicken.

She is just holding out for something better. Be firm. If she still ahsnt eaten after 2-3 days, than give her a little bit of chicken, but not before.

She HAS to believe that you are serious about not giving her anything but cat food before she will give up waiting for the chicken.

Another thing you can try is to get a can of chicken broth and mix some of that with the dry food.

For one, DO NOT add milk to her food. Contrary to belief, cats can not digest milk!

Common sense: This kitten will not eat kitten food as long as you are offering her real meat, so stop.

You may want to moisten dry kitten food with a little water... let it get soft, then put a taste on her lips, so she has to try it..... she will like it. I had the same problem with my Cupcake (our newest kitty-boy) and this worked!

P.S. I say dry food for two reasons. 1.) wet food makes wet and smellier poo! 2.) She will need the hard food to sharpen her teeth.

normally if you don't cater to them they will get hungry enough and eat. if you notice her losing weight, get her checked. also try friskies canned food...it's for adults and kittens. i have a 6 week old kitten that LOVE this kind of food and it's really inexpensive, like less than 50 cents a can at walmart. get a couple of cans and see how she does on it

I KNOW IT SOUNDS BAD BUT IF YOU DON'T STOP GIVING HER WHAT SHE WANTS (CHICKEN) SHE WON'T EVER TRY CAT FOOD, TUNA. HAVE YOU TRIED TO PUSH HER LITTLE NOSE DOWN IN IT. NOT HARD BUT ENOUGH TO GET IT ON HER SO SHE HAS TO LICK IT OFF. GIVE HER NO OPTION CONTINUE TO PUSH HER NOSE IN IT EVERY TIME YOU FEED AND DON'T GIVE HER CHICKEN. HOPE THIS HELPS.
