In the world there are more women than men. Like in America alone there are more than 8 million more women than men. In Uk there are 1.8 million more women than men. In Australia there are more than 300 thousand more women than men. (Source http://www.overpopulation.com/faq/basic_information/sex_ratio/). So if every man got married to a woman there would still be 1.8 million women in America without a husband, in Uk 1.8 million, in Australia 300 thousand. What are these women to do? There's 3 things they can do: 1) Abstain from sex whole life - which is not practical. 2) Become public properties - which is not good (your sister could be one of them). 3) Share a husband. Islam says she should share a husband with another woman. What does Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism etc have to say about this ?

For starters, your source isn't very viable- the link said content not found.

Secondly, if there is a discrepancy so large in the number of males to females, there are practical reasons for it, and practical ways to avoid it. It may be the case that in the current population there are more women than men, but babies are still born at a pretty much 50/50 ratio. So what happens between then and now?

I have a few suggestions:

1) STOP SENDING (Y)OUR MEN OFF TO WAR!! Really, stop sending people to war period. There's no viable reason in a world society as advanced as we are that we have to run around shooting and bombing people, seriously. It would really cut down on the large number of male casualties, wouldn't it?

2) Stop thinking that everyone HAS to be married. To be single for your whole life isn't a curse or something- for some people it's a choice, for some people, it's a calling. Just because you're not married doesn't mean there's something wrong with you. Stand up and take care of yourself!

And if you're looking for a more blatantly fundamentalist answer, I could suggest those women become nuns. :) We could use a strong force like that working for peace and justice in the world.

This is not a problem because around 20% of men are gay, also what the statistics don't tell you is that a large proportion of the extra women are widows in their 70s and 89s because women live longer than men in civilised (ie non-muslim) countries. Would you like an 80 year old 3rd wife Abdullah? This surplus women thing is used by mormons and muslims to justify polygamy. Get with the program guys, if you can't live in the 21st century at least try for for the 19th.

Funny thing is, countries like India and China have problems with surpus MEN, not women. In those cultures, baby boys are considered far more valuable than baby girls, and females are often aborted or abandoned. Plus, it is the natural state of things for there to be more women than men. Think about it; men have millions of sperm to one woman's ovum, and women are far more invested in the development of the child (not to say that men can't be good dads, but consider pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.). You see this slight imbalance in many, I would say most, sexually dimorphic animals. Originally, that is part of the reason why men had multiple wives more often than females had multiple husbands and why that kind of thing was/is condoned by major religions- for procreation purposes. Problem is, some people have misinterpreted the meanings of the original texts and claim that men have a right to more than one wife by virtue of his "superiority" and a woman's need to be taken care of, her "submissiveness". Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are (like it or not) all based on the same monotheistic system and share the same or similar holy writings, and so share very similar views on the subject, though most references to multiple marriages are considered "Old Testament" or outdated. Hinduism is much the same, but, as mentioned before, raising a girl child is akin to watering someone else's garden: you have to take care of her and then marry her off with a sufficient dowry, which is something most impoverished Indians cannot afford.

The American example works out to less than a 3% difference. Doesn't sound like much of a problem. Nature seems to take care of these things just fine.

Despite the numbers difference, this isn't such a problem yet. Prisons are filled disproportionately with men... Also, not every woman chooses to be married...

That life isn't always about finding who to hook up with next. Why is it that all of these women HAVE to be married? The Bible says that it is better not to be married because you have more time to spend in your relationship with the Lord. You can be more diligent in prayer and in his works.. because you don't have someone else to tend to. The Bible says that a marriage takes up a lot of our time and effort.. and as a result.. you end up trying to please your spouse more than God.

Some could probably marry Chinese men as the Chinese are aborting or destroying their baby girls.
