You cant name her without getting to know her first. The day you get her, watch her. Her characteristics and the way she acts will pop a name straight into your head!!

You don't need to name her right away. Bring her home, play with her, see what her personality is like. That should help you find a name for her.
Most of my dogs have been male, so I don't think those names would work for you. I had a dog named Sarge, cuz he was smart, and ruler of the back yard. :-) When we got the second dog, we named him Buddy because he followed Sarge everywhere and wanted whatever Sarge had, so he was his little buddy.
My mom named her dog Happy because no matter what he is doing or where he goes, he's always Happy. He doesn't have a mean bone is his body.
Most black labs are name Charcoal, Midnight, etc. based on their color. But you may want to be more original.

Shade, makes you think of cocktails under a coconut tree at the beach.
My last dog before I left my parents' place was called Shade. A crazy girl with lots of attitude.
Now none of my two monsters is black.

I like to name my pets by their personality.
I chose my Golden Retriever's name, Sunny. He is big, smart and friendly.... so his name fits him perfectly! We also have a beagle-boxer mix from the shelter that my husband named Shady.... he has a shady character plus he's cool! My 5 year old named our newest kitty, Cupcake, which I thought was really sweet, just like our kitty-boy. We also have a cat that my 11 year old named Bullz I, because he has bulls-eye markings on his body, but we call him bully for short.... that he is too...a bully for love and affection and he also bullies the lil guy sometimes!
A cool suggestion is D.O.G.((sounds like deogee)) but you have to say it like that, otherwise it's just dog!
Good Luck! Labs are very energetic and puppies for longer than a lot of breeds, like the Goldies are ((3 yrs)).

I've got a black lab - and we named him Harley - as he's sleek, powerful and extremely gorgeous! The girls in the litter were named Molly, Tilly and Truffle! Enjoy your new little friend!
