Christening isn't mentioned in the Bible, it is something the church made up.
Baptism is commanded by Jesus.
Jesus never christened, He only baptised. And He baptized people who voluntarily came to Him in repentence. Obviously babies are too young to come to Him in repentence so He didn't baptize them.

Baptism should be a personal choice and Christening is the parents dedicating the child to God and vowing to do what they can to instruct and direct in that way. There are many doctrines of baptism, so I would ask God's Spirit for direction. It is ritual. and about dedication. I am not so sure how far you can go with that for another person, but you can promise God you will do your best to make the option available for your children.

Baptism, is the ritual, experience, of being born again. To some churches, acceptance of the Lord your savior, is a stepped deal, with accepting the Lord, then a baptism, with water. It represents the resurrection, being placed in the water, and then raised out, signfying the new life in Jesus.
Some people, like a friend I had, only had a cup of water applied, due to an ear infection.
Christening, is usually done to an infant, and is also known as a dedication, where a child is presented to the church, and dedicated to God. It's usually done, as an honor, to both the family, to the church, and the members, to then look and help bring up the child, the family, and help the person grow in faith with the Lord.

Nothing. Christening is the old name for Baptism. When babies are baptised, their parents promise to help them grow up as Christians. Water is poured on the baby to symbolise a fresh start with God.

Baptism is that sacred ordinance revealed from the teachings of Jesus Christ to be done in full water immersion at the age of accountability by authorized priesthood holders.

Christening is an unauthorized ordinance performed by the Catholic Church and is done by sprinkling oil or "holy water" on an infant's head. This ordinance has no validity in this world or in the next. It has no place in the Church of Jesus Christ.
