As they said, it really depends on the two fighters. However, as a practitioner of MMA myself, one of the few opponents that I fear is the trained boxer. Kicks are way overrated, and take much longer than punches to make contact. Many standing grapples (meaning joint locks) depend on the opponent not knowing how to punch properly. ANd grapples are avoidable.
Some people mentioned UFC. If kicks are so good, than why are there no Tai Kwon Do experts left? Why do some fighters still win with boxing and grapple avoidance? Because Martial artists (except boxers, who are also) are generalists. They kick, they grapple, they punch. Boxers punch. Alot. And they take alot of punches.
Watch any UFC Ultimate Knockouts, some of which you can find on comegetyousome.com . See how many fights end in a few punches.
I'm not saying that the boxer would win. I'm just ssaying that you shouldn't underestimate a boxer.

Just watch MMA fights. There are fighters that are primarily boxers with limited ground skills, and most barely kick. You will see that almost every time the well rounded martial artist prevails in the conflict. However, I said almost because all the training a martial artist uses over their entire bodies is focused into a boxer's hands. There is always a punchers chance to win the fight with one well place shot.

You morons... a certain style CANT beat another... theres always going to be a Martial Artist that can beat a boxer, but another boxer that can beat the Martial Artist. It's not the art, it's the person.

martial artists. Boxers are trained in the sport of boxing, you must stand as long as possible, where as in most martial arts there like hey I'm going to break your arms. now say if your a really good boxer you could take a mediocre martial artist.but if there a good martial artist you'll get your arms broken and if it was me I would break your legs to just for spite.

In a boxing ring with boxing rules (the boxer)
In a Martial Arts ring with our rules (Martial Artist)
On the street with no rules. It would be a good fight and would depend on what art is being done.
Kung-Fu or Tae-Kwon-Do (Boxer)
Karate, Judo, BJJ, Aikido (Martial artist)
You've go to remember, boxers are some physicaly stong guys who spend their time taking punches that we spend our time avoiding. It would take alot to take down a good boxer.

I'd say the Martial Artist because they are trained to kick as well as punch. Typically, these guys also train for years. Boxers, as far as I know, have a short active career.

I twould depend on the two fighters, and what they practice. If the martial artist studied only Tai chi, and the fought Evender Holyfield, Holyfield would take all their shots, and knock them out. But if anyone fought Bruce Lee, Bruce would stomp them because he is well rounded in punching, kicking, weapons, grappling, submissions, and throws. You cannot get a decent answer to this question until you identify the fighters.
