You begin by acknowledging the bride and groom and any VIPs. If you search the net for "wedding speeches," you'll find plenty of sites that offer prewritten speeches that depend on your status, which you don't tell us, other than "best friend." If you are not the best man, you have more latitude in bringing in personal experiences the two of you shared. If your best friend is the bride, you may have to exercise some restraint in what you share.

Try to find a shared experience that shows off your friend well, and how it shows she or he will help the married couple as they start their life together. If it's funny, all the better.

End it by expressing hope for their happy and prosperous future. If you are not accustomed to public speaking, write it down on a 3x5 card, make it fit on a 3x5 card, so it will be only a couple of minutes long.

It will be an important moment for you and your friend, but after a year or two, only you will remember it, so don't try to be a perfect speech-maker.

And remember to shut up and sit down. It's not your day, it's the bride and groom's.

Make certain the speech is approximately the couple, no longer approximately you. That could be my handiest recommendation. No one will wish to take a seat and concentrate to you talk approximately some thing you and the bride did while you have been 12, they wish to listen to stuff approximately the bride and groom. Keep that during brain whilst you're writing. If you dont understand them as a pair that good, then hold it quick and candy with simply desires for an overly completely happy existence in combination. And be honest. Have you obvious marriage ceremony crashers? Not many humans can pull off a humorous speech, hold it candy rather of humorous.

I think that reminiscing on how you know the person (but not to the extent of boredeom!), shared experiences, funny moments together are usually the best way to go. A little humour is always appreciated because you're all there to have a good time after all. Don't worry too much about the formalities (eg the best man toasting the bridesmaids etc) because nobody really cares about that sort of stuff anyway.
