People have been debating this since the 1st Century, even sects within the Catholic church have claimed some sort of divine right.
Truthfully, as a reverent agnostic I don't place much value in any religious denomination.. I was raised as a Lutheran, my wife and kids attend the church of her youth.
Belief in a power greater then your self and practicing that faith does not require a building. Choose your own conception.
Some choose God, (deists) others feel that Jesus is the divine conception of God on earth and is the great intervenor, others choose Allah and kill people to convert.
Most church denominations have adopted political stances.. Rather then belief practices they've become instruments of social change. I see this as the antithesis of what belief is.
In Alcoholic's Anonymous there is a tradition that state "AA has no opinion on outside issues." Most Christians today (Left or Right) have adopted some premise of their sect to some type of social/moral change..
UCC, Methodists have been opening practicing gay union ceremonies while other denominations call gay unions an "abomination" Truthfully, in my opinion BOTH views detract and distract from the purpose of a church, that is to practice faith.
Personal relationships with your higher power is what is important. Spiritual experiences (as defined by William James in "Varieties of Religious Experience) require pray and meditation. I've seen a lot of Sunday morning Christians who get connected with whatever cult they belong too and wind up protesting some thing or another. Defeating the purpose of faith. It is not to effect social change as much as it is your personal relationship with God.

No Christian denomination is perfect so that's hard to say. I definitely think there are some denominations that are better than others because some are more Biblical than others. I think what determines one denomination's "superiority" over another is their commitment to God's word above their own word. Some churches have become cultish in the sense that they exalt their own personal beliefs over what Jesus commanded. They want to make up their own rules instead of following God's unchanging rules.

Denominations are man -made so that people with a difference of interpretation of the Bible can group together and worship with people of like-mind. God, however , calls us to be unified and not have divisions. I don't believe denominations are important to Him at all as long we are in unity. I have belonged to several denominations in my life but I prefer a non-denominational church. People tend to get hung up on "THEIR denomination" and we lose focus on the unity that is so important as believers.

Non-denomination. Read God's word, follow it and it will make sense. Christianity is a reality, not a religion.
Think about it.

This is different for everyone.
I love my denomination. I am a member of the United Church of Christ.
It's all about including people and not telling them how wrong they are for being who they are. We never try to "fix" anyone who isn't broken. We work for justice and peace. Our Clergy is educated.

There is no answer to your question. The bible is the greatest story ever told with no factual evidence to support its basis. It is truly up to those who have been raised by their parents to go along with it or ask questions to find the truth. I myself followed my parents until I started asking questions of the pastors I listened to during my high school years. Come to find out that it truly is based on what you believe. If that is all you have ever been told, what else would you think? Once you start to read the bible and cross that over to science, there is no logical way you can go by what the bible says. It's time line and events just do not match with what has been scientifically proven. If you want to continue to believe everything you have ever been told about the bible, then go right ahead. I wil not.

The Unity church is best because it includes all people. All you have to do is be willing to attend and work toward love.
