I'm with you, and God is love, period. Love has no room for violence, separatism or bigotry but as I see in some of the above answers there is still ample proof of your analogy. Peace.

You can take a philosophical approach and analyze this to death, but the real issue is that people who are different and have their own beliefs as taught to them since birth see the world as a place they need to clense.
In essence, they are trying to force their will on the ones who don't hold this belief. Those who don't hold this belief will not bend to their will through philosophical discussion and debate because they:
1. Don't speak the same language
2. Are mortal enemies since birth
3. Have their own strong beliefs which they will not waver from.
Extremists do not bend their beliefs to examine the possibility that there is another way. They see anybody who doesn't hold their beliefs as evel temptation or the 'devil' if one exists in their culture. There are extremists on all sides including christianity, muslims, and all other religions of the world.
Some just decide to isolate themselves and not deal with the rest of the world. Others try to recruit more people by spreading their own 'word' to the non-believers.
IN the end, it's all about money, power and control. These are all things invented by man to control man. NOBODY should be subjected to any will of others.
Having said that, religion and the big 'G*' are mostly used as the justification of radicals to perpetrate evil in the name of whatever diety they happen to believe in. Those at the top of the chain know that it's just about power, control and money.
Why do I say money? Money is also a tool used to control people. In its most general sense, money represents the blood sweat and tears of people. I work to earn money. My life produces money because I do things that generate payment to myself. If I was poor and hungry and someone asked me to do something, it would not cost them much to get me to do it.
I could pay you $1,000,000 and ask you to do something for me and you would not hesitate to do it... and I would venture to suggest that it may be a little bit askew of your beliefs and you would still do it. If I offered $10 for the same task, your beliefs would win. If I offered that your family would be looked after for the rest of their lives and you will be met by 1000 virgins if you sacrificed your life for islam and all you needed to do is take out as many evil non-believers as you could, how powerful is that?

An All-Powerful being wouldn't. Neither would such a being need or require others to do the work for them. To claim that they or anyone else is doing that all-powerful being's work for them only shows that person's or group of people's misunderstanding of what that being needs and instead shows that that person, or group of people's need for the feeling of being special in some way and demonstrates their inferiority and lack of self esteem.
They feel that by picking up a gun, and killing another in the name of their own All-Powerful being, that they are special, worthy in someway, and therefore less inferior than they really are.
Sad really.

Religion is used in "uneducated" societies to control minds. It's that simple. You indoctrinate the children by only letting them read the Koran and then you have millions of brainwashed walking bombs.

Yes, the fundamentalists and terrorists are all wrong. Was that a difficult conclusion to reach? You don't fight them by arguing with them. You fight them by imprisoning them or killing them.
