.Taking the heads of slain enemies and impaling them upon pikes appears to have been a favorite pastime among crusaders

Chronicles record a story of a crusader-bishop who referred to the impaled heads of slain Muslims as a joyful spectacle for the people of God. When Muslim cities were captured by Christian crusaders, it was standard operating procedure for all inhabitants, no matter what their age, to be summarily killed. It is not an exaggeration to say that the streets ran red with blood as Christians reveled in church-sanctioned horrors. Jews who took refuge in their synagogues would be burned alive, not unlike the treatment they received in Europe

Remember that all that call themselves Christians are not. There have been many wars in the name of Jesus, but mostly in the name of Christianity. First, because someone joins a group of zealots alone should tell you that they have not attained what God intended when He sent Jesus to this Earth. It was all about establishing a one on one relationship with God again, and not about joining any group of sheep being led to slaughter. It was also not about a group forcing a doctrine on any one. Those many groups over the years that called themselves "Christians", and went about doing the opposite of the Teaching of Jesus, can hardly be considered Children of the living God. They were mostly a bunch of thugs like many religions are. God is not religious, He is real. Jesus did not teach war or violence of any kind. No child of God participated in any of these practices unless they were deceived.

love the take on the song, for your title, dude.

since you want to incite a little hatred, lets try this:

as a christian and a soldier, i am called upon to perform duties that take the life of complete strangers. i signed up for this job 25 years ago and dont plan to quit until they force me to retire.

taking body parts, or mutiliating body parts is illegal in the u.s. military and all militaries around the world claim to abhor these as well.

in the time of the (despicable) crusades, it was common for a ruling lord to take the head of an enemy and display it at the gates, as a warning to others who would take up arms against the "rightful" person of note.

that changed over the centuries, thank God, and i for one am pleased. it is bad enough to have to bag the enemy dead and sort through their belongings to make certain that the remains, valuables and family pictures get back to the family.

it is the radical element of the nation we went to war with, and the radical element of those who perceive this to be a "holy war", that ply the trade of taking heads and mutilating bodies.

that said, there have been some disgraceful instances in this war where u.s. soldiers have killed without cause and have supposedly raped iraqi citizens. if the soldiers did this thing, then rest assured, i would consider it a terrible thing to have to do, but i'd fire the bullet that executes any person who would commit these attrocities.

just as i am being hated and blamed for the crusades, the inquisition and even slavery (although i am far too young to have seen any of these things outside of a history book) i can understand the "feeling" of retribution that people desire.

Hmm. Someone's been reading a lot of Dracula comics, as well, a lot of anti christian propaganda.
Let's go back to the tape, shall we?
First of all, look what happened to the Christian faith....go back far enough, before Jesus came, the Hebrews were in the area first.
Then, leaving for a famine, they headed out to egypt.
Then from there, they came, via moses, and later, Joshua.
settling in the promised land, they grew crops, raised livestock, and followed God, until they forgot what he did, and raiders started sacking their goods.
This went on for some time, until they got a king....not that God wanted to give them one, but they were tired of Judges....they wanted a king, like the other realms around them.
So, they got Saul, tall man, not much for brains.
Then came David, who helped stretch out the lands of Israel...and his son, Solomon, set the table for it's division.
Solomon, considered by many to be the smartest king, was also the dumbest, by praying to idols, of his many wives. Then, his kingdom was divided after he died, between his son, and a foreman that worked for him.
Now, follow this going on...away from God, back to God, went on, until God said, forget it....wash my hands, let Israel be attacked, and her people sent to the far reaches.
Sure enough, Babylonia sacked Jerusalem.
From there on, the people who remained, mingled with the ones that were left, some that were carried off, were to never return.
However, afte Rome hit Jerusalem a second time, and destroyed the temple, they wanted to make an example....and forcibly deported Jews, to all over the world.
Muslims, following a person named Mohammed, slowly rose in power. What's funny, is that this man, who claimed to be God's son, never rose from the dead, didn't perform miracles...and even lived a sinful life.
And now, his followers kill, maim, rape, and treat other humans like animals....not a very loving type, don't you think?

Will you at least put some effort into phrasing these as questions?

Also, are you trying to make a point? If so, you are failing miserably. So, some of the people who have committed atrocities were Christians. Others who committed atrocities were not. Some people who do bad things work in supermarkets. Should we condemn all supermarket employees?

There were no Christians during the time of Chronicles. Christians didn't appear until The book of Acts.

Times and People were cruel then.
Not that it's not much different now, but the heads of conquered kings was also used in celebration ball games.
Talk about cold-blooded.

Anyway, those that commit acts of horror in the name of Christ, like the religions of the past and present are quilty of, will account for it.

Dramaticism is the most effective way to convey a belief system. The brain is emotionally stirred visually, hence, the graphic method of impaling was used in religion to "get ahead".

i choose to sit down outdoors on the patio with a pitcher of Iced Tea (selfmade for sure), and probably bypass for a dip in the pool if it receives too warm. Then, come interior to an air-conditioned basement, and probably watch a movie with some popcorn. notably sturdy day in my books.

Does that sound like a real Christian to you?

No, me either.

Ya know Mr Mojo .... this is sort of getting boring, I'm not going to answer you anymore. Rant all you want, you seek nothing but to post your own agenda and that's, well, boring.
