The local mechanic does not know how to reset the oil light which I believe goes on based on mileage not the actual condition of your car/oil...anyone know how?

Volvo has the $ maker here. Their software is very, very expensive. Local independent shops usually can't afford it.

_The good news is it shouldn't take very long to clear the code. They just hook it up to the computer and run the software 15 min. scan at the most. You'll most likely have to pay 1 hour service fee.

Be careful if you do try to disconnect the battery. It nay trigger a "radio code". Directions to do that should be in your owner's manual.

Disconnect the positive battery anode for approximately 10 minutes before hooking it back up. If that doesn't do it then you must take it to a Volvo dealership. Not a back yard mechanic.
