It surely sounds like you have a high metabolism which simply means that your body transforms calories into energy very quickly.Barring medical problems like hyperthyroidism and poor absorption you could try eating some different foods in larger quantities.I'll list inexpensive foods because you've stated there is a cost issue.Rice, breads and other baked goods, oatmeal, pasta.Your question on slowing your metabolism is much too complex to answer in the space I'm given.Remember that most plant fats are very healthy so don't shy away from them. Please don't ask anyone at GNC because they probably have no idea and their prices are outrageous.Have your thyroid hormones checked.I'm warning you it's not cheap but hyperthyroidism is very dangerous.

At the moment you should count your blessings! How old are you and what do your family look like? As you probably know, it is all down to your metabolism. This is simply the rate that you burn calories to meet your energy demands. It is affected by gender, genetic make-up and your activity levels. Age does have an impact on it but the more active you are the less ageing slows your metabolism.
So if you do have a high metabolism, enjoy the fact that you burn calories and enjoy food. If you really feel that you are spending a fortune on food, try these:
Drinking water when you get the urge to eat. Very often we feel hungry but are actually thirsty. Try sipping at least 1 litre of water a day. Tap water is fine, don't get suckered into paying for stuff in plastic bottles.
Eating bulky foods in the morning like mixed grain muesli. Avoid sugary stuff because that is full of empty calories and does not feed you for long. Go for complex carbohydrates and high fibre foods. And never, ever, skip breakfast!
Oh just go ahead and enjoy it!

Yes it is possible you may have worms, they thoght my little brother did because he never stops eating but is skinny as a twig - turns out he was just the privillaged few with a fast metabolism - trying to slow down your metabolism is unhealthy - you are most likely young and still growing very very fast - I have some really tall friends, 16 years old who eat like pigs, they never stop, food costs their family a fortune, yet they are super skinny - 6 foot 10 mind you, but still it means your body needs that - slowing down your metabolism is unhealthy also as you get older, your metabolism will slow down itself and you will put on the dreaded weight and be struggling to lose it - strange thought eh? - So just eat your fill and don't deprive your body of what it needs. Metabolism changes drastically after 30.

You are lucky for sure.
I was like you but it change all of a sudden at age 40.
You said "it's costing me a bloody fortune! Before you ask, no I haven't got worms! :-)".
This is the only problem, it can be resolved.
Resolution:
The key here is self discipline.
Go to Biomass index info on line, find your required daily calories in take base on biomass and eat that many calories only.
Create a food budget say $25.00/- a week (this is up to you). Stick with it. Change it if required but do not let it run amuck, rebuget at the end of the week, write down to maintain a log.
Drink a gallon of water every day (tap/fountain water is free and good in most places if not buy a decanter to purify it at your dwelling).
Invest in insulated food /water carrier.
Shop for everything with shopping list, buy thing on sale only (you can buy for any no. of wk at a time), do not buy so much that you have to throw out because of the spoilage.
Each day, put your day's quota of measured calories food in the insulated carrier, put a list of planed food that you will consume at dwelling in the bag, eat only as planed.
Before eating any thing drink plenty of water, you can eat as many time as you wish but do not exceed the calories in take for the day.
At all cost avoid vending machine. Eating out is expensive too. Do not deprive but you can always postpone.
Try this and see if you can reduce the cost.
Good luck.

I used to be like that. I could eat and eat and eat and I would always stay the same weigh. i never watched what I ate because I didn't need to. then one year, my body somehow changed and I put on over two stone in a year. Now i have to watch what I eat. I'm still able to eat what I want but I'm just a lot more sensible and I got to the gym three times a week. you'll probably find that as you approach 30 your body will change too.

I'm the same... I spend about £100 a week on food for just me. That's why I go to friend's houses for dinner lots. Maybe you should go to the doctor anyway- it probably will turn out to be your metabolism though as I got checked for everything from over-active thyroid to anorexia and all tests came back negative! Lucky... ?

Thyroid problems can be part of the problem...if your doctor checks your thyroid levels he can then determine whether or not that gland is causing this. I used to be able to do the same thing and never gain weight, it actually irritated me because I got the tag skinny...hate that word.
Medication can be given that levels out your thyroid function if you are currently under weight or very slender. The medication would be Levothyroxin or synthroid, very small doses can help significantly. I believe the thyroid is classed as Hyperthyroidism (over active thyroid).
Good luck

Grr... Not fair! How about we swap metabolisms for a week at a time? I only have to look at crisps and I put on a pound!
How old are you? My metabolism was super fast and I couldn't put any weight on until I turned 18 and started on the pill. Now I have cellulite. Bummer!!

How old are you?
I used to be the same - skinny and hungry, no matter what I ate.
Now I can put on a little weight if I go overboard. It changed in my early 30s. Also, though, I have had part of my colon surgicaly removed due to disease, so I'm sure that helps me ;-)
Your best bet is to steer clear of food with simple carbohydrates - eat more stuff with complex carbs in them - in general eat healthy and you won't be so hungry. Also drink lots to help delay onset of rumbling tummy. I find this works - particularly if it is beer that I am drinking lots of!
Don't complain - make the most of it!

It appears from the scant info in your question that you MAY have a high metabolism. You should get your thyroid checked, a hyperthyroid condition will show the same loss of weight, Good Luck.
