Ok, so I'm not actually 'bald' but my hair is VERY short. I shaved my head in April and now I miss my long hair. What can I do to make my hair grow faster?

and yes, i know shaving your head is an odd thing for a 25 year old woman to do. I think I'm having a melt down

Some good tips for faster hair growth:

1. Carrot oil for your scalp. It's really good.

2. Wash AND condition daily. If your hair is too oily it can slow down the growth. That's why it's important to wash daily. However, you also need your oils, so the conditioner acts like a sort of substitute.

3. Limit the heat you apply to your hair. Curling irons, blow dryers, etc. can damage your hair, cause split ends, and potentially slow hair growth. Stay away from it as much as possible. When you do use it, put a good leave-in-conditioner AND oil or moisturizer (Biosilk is really good) before applying heat.

4. Stay away from perms, relaxers, highlights, color, etc. These all damage hair and slow growth.

5. Your diet plays a role!!! Too many sweets or fatty foods can actually stunt hair growth. Eat fruits and veggies (and whole grains, lean protein) for a full head of healthy hair.

Hope this helps

It's certainly not the norm, but not all that unusual.

Was this for one of those charity headshaves for cancer or were you just curious as to how you would look bald?

I just hope you didn't lose it on a bet?

Anyway, it's definitely going to take some time. There are ways to improve hair growth that have already been mentioned like a healthy diet and no chemical processing during growth. I don't know how long it was before shaving it all off, but you'll probably be looking at about 2 1/2 to 3 years to get it back to its original length if that is your goal. Seems like a long time, but not really if you don't constantly dwell upon it.

However, for whatever reason you did this, I do admire your bravery. It's hard enough for a guy to get up the courage to shave his head (it took me a little while), but about 10x moreso for a woman, especially with societal pressure to conform to a certain look.

But anyway, good luck and don't sweat it! It's just hair!

I've heard that your hair grows faster when it's hot. You could go to the gym and work out and sweat everyday or hit the sauna. I'm not sure it'll work, but it's worth a try. Plus, if you are having a melt-down, working out will relieve stress, so that would be a bonus from doing that.

Get a wig. Or put your head in the freezer since people say that cold weather makes hair grow faster.
