Who knows?
Why do you want to waste time answering emails from someone who is so over anyway?

It truly depends on what you guys talk/write about. My ex and i talk daily, but the conversations are almost totally friend stuff ( not always, we were together for over 5 years ), and we both know there's no chance of us being together again. It all depends on how well you know the person. Is it that you want there to be something more, or do you suspect that there is? Maybe its as simple as they miss the closeness you had in the relationship and arent willing to let go of that yet.
Really you're the only one who can say for sure, and of course, if you REALLY can't tell, ask. You're already broken up so it shouldnt cause too much of an issue :)

The person is your ex for a reason. So move on.
This same situation was happening to me as well. My ex popped back into my life after leaving over 8 years ago. He kept saying a bunch of BS and I from the first sentence told him that I was engaged and very happy. It was getting way out of control that he threatened to come and see me. I had to get the cops involved and I also told my fiance about the situation. I have not heard from my ex in a while now.

It depends what they send in the e-mails and what they chat with you about. If it's just friendly, every day stuff, it probably doesn't have an ulterier motive.

I'd say this depends on a load of variables. Did you dump him? How did it end? How long since it ended? How old are you? How long since you've seen him? Have you both got other partners now?
Tell me so I can make an informed decision and not do my Uni work!

This person has problems letting go and wants to keep you tied to them. Sometimes they don't want you, but don't want anyone else to have you so they keep you confused and available with hopes of reconcilation.
If you are feeling slighted, you need to close this chapter and leave it that way, at least until the feelings are gone.

It depends on what you talk about! If you just talk about casual stuff like the sports and the weather, it doesn't mean anything. However, if you talk about really serious stuff, they might want to get back together.
