Hamas is an acronym for Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islamiyya which means "Islamic Resistance Movement" in Arabic

Hamas means enthsiasm
marianne: hamas is arabic not hebrew, the people in hamas are arabs.. so it's more appropriate to be in arabic not hebrew

Interestingly, the word "Hamas" in Hebrew means basically "unbridled violence".
It was the sin of "Hamas" that caused God to wipeout mankind in the Bible.
